We have confirmation that John Doyle’s revival of Sweeney Todd, the one in which the 10 actors also play all the instruments, will indeed open the American Conservatory Theater season on Aug. 30.
A press release from ACT stated: “The ACT presentation of Sweeney Todd launches the company’s 2007-08 season. Fruther details on the season’s offerings will be announced in March. Tickets for Sweeney Todd go on sale in August.
The press release also notes that next month, director Tim Burton begins filming the movie version of Sweeney Todd starring Johnny Depp (left, wearing my new glasses) as the title character and Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett (a role originated by Angela “God Bless Her” Lansbury). Also in the cast are Alan Rickman (Judge Turpin), Sacha Baron Cohen (Pirelli). Vrrrry niiiiice.
Valli’s Semi-Random Thought of the Day: Alan Rickman is hot. I know he’s not your classic hottie but he’s one sexy dude. Especially when he plays that teacher (who’s name I can’t remember) in the Harry Potter movies. And he was awesome in Sense & Sensibility as Col. Brandon. Looove him.
And isn’t Helena Bonham Carter getting that job because she’s sleeping with the director??? 🙂 hehe.
I cant wait till this movie comes out to theater. Johnny Depp does such a great job in all his movies and I’m sure that this movie will go with his collection of movies!!!!!!! I CANT WAIT TILL IT COMES OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):):):)

He will actually be singing in this. I read an interview and Johnny said that he was excited that he actually gets to sing unlike in Crybaby when he was just dubbed over. So I’m really looking forward to that. He actually has a pretty good voice.
OMG it sounds soooo cool i really wanna watch it! Johnny Depp is sooo great i love him lol he is gunna play it soo well like he always does!!! cant wait to see thie s film!!
