Goodbye, for now

Hello, loyal Theater Dogs readers.

First, I’d like to thank you for bothering to show up here in the first place. I’m so grateful (and have been since the blog started in August, 2006) for your support. I love writing this blog, and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it.

That said, Theater Dogs is going on a bit of hiatus. I’m taking a new job at the Sacramento Bee (as an editor, not a writer), so I’ll need some time to figure out what to do with the ol’ blog and see if I can reconfigure it in a way that makes any sense to me or to you.

If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them. You can always find me at chiatovich@gmail.com or leave a comment here.

Again, my thanks for being a Theater Dog. I hope I’ll see you here again very soon.

Now, go see a show. Theater needs you right now.

Chad

What?!

I’m with Prince!

I have a better idea: NOT going to Sacramento and staying here.

Chad,

I’m so sad to hear that one of my favorite theatre/arts voices will be silenced, if only at least temporarily. Congrats on the new job, and thanks for your kindnesses to me personally.

It has all been said here. I will miss this site and I will miss Chad. Hopefully he can re instate the site at a later date since it was one of the best theatre sites on the web. We at talkinbroadway will miss him since most of our forum members checked in with him almost daily.

Chad, Congrats on the new job, just remember Sacramento isn’t so far away, visit often. Thanks for being such a positive reviewer and really enjoying your work.

I’ll give you another month. By then you should know your ropes so get busy learning them and then just jump back in full steam ahead.

I have already felt the personal sting of working outside the boundaries of the “theatre world.” That’s how I feel, a little, here in Sactown. If Theatre Dogs was up and running I would have a trustworthy place to go to get a glimpse at whats going on that’s newsworthy. People all over the country are keeping up with Theatre Dogs. I’m keeping up with shows, people, events I know and respect here. Shows both in my reach and those Gem’s outside my field of vision. I see CJ’s TheatreDogs as the next big thing. My selfish bone has now gotten it’s fill.

I hope you love the new stretch of responsibilities and such that goes along with any new position. I know it’s not bigger than you. And I wish you the very, very best.
God bless,
CK

Wow! I used to read your stuff back when I lived in the Bay! I just found this site and now I’m disappointed you are on a hiatus, but excited that you are in Sactown!! :) Please work with Jim Carnes and Marcus Crowder – as they seem to be part of the small minority in this town steadfastly behind the arts. I grew up performing in the Bay (at BBBay, AMTSJ, etc.) and loved the community support (especially from papers – though, that was before the invention of the “blog” and bloggers!) and it’s unfortunate that we have such talent up here with very few bragging about it. ;) Hope you can figure out a way to help us all out!!! We’d appreciate it! Make a big announcement when you come back into the blogosphere, ok? xoxo
