Shotgun gunning for `Ubu'

Berkeley's Shotgun Players have received a challenge grant opportunity from the East Bay Community Foundation's Fund for Artists to keep their tradition of free in-the-park summer theater. If the company raises $5,000 by June 30, that amount will be matched with a grant for their production of Ubu for President, a new play adapted by Josh Costello from Ubu Roi an absurdist 1896 comedy by Alfred Jarry. Artistic director Patrick Dooley directs the production, slated for July 26 through Sept. 7 at John Hinkel Park.To make a donation, stop by here and cast your vote for free political theater in the park.
