Go for the burn with `Burn the Floor'

Burn the FloorIf you haven't seen Burn the Floor, the hot, hot, hot ballroom dance floor that has been extended through April 26 at San Francisco's Post Street Theatre, you really should. If you're a fan of the execrable contest show "Dancing with the Stars," you should do yourself a favor and see how the pros do it.Seeing as how the show is here for a little longer, why shouldn't we benefit from the skills of these dancing pros? In "Ballroom for Beginners" at Gold's Gym, champion Ballroom dancer and Burn the Floor cast member Robin Windsor (above) will teach you how to waltz, jive and cha-cha like a champ while getting a great cardio workout. Gay or straight, single or coupled, Gold's members or non-members-everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. Participants will learn a new dance with each class, so come for one class or attend the whole series!Windsor's classes are 90 minutes and and are at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at Gold's SOMA, 1001 Brannan St., SanFrancisco, 415-552-GOLD and 10:30 a.m. Thursdays at Gold's Castro, 2301 Market St., San Francisco, 415-626-4488. Classes currently run through April 23 with additional dates pending.Advance registration for the class is suggested but not necessary. Cost is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.Dancing since the age of three, Windsor is a former competitive Ballroom dancer who has won numerous British dance titles and represented his native UK in competitions around the world.
